Welcome to Summer of Zombie Fun in the Sun 2018 #SummerZombie

by Jay Wilburn

Well, not too much sun. I’m on meds and have to avoid too much sun exposure and zombies are sometimes scarier in the dark. Also, sun is bad for their skin and eyes. They do not recover from sun damage as easily as they did before they reanimated, but still, it’s summer time and there are certain expectations of the season we have to adhere to while promoting events, so …

Summer of Zombie 2018 is here! We are very excited about what we have set up for you, the readers, fans, and curious onlookers.

We have a talented and interesting set of featured authors and creative works. There is a diverse group of stories for you to check out. We have new and veteran authors. We have ongoing series and new adventures from some familiar folks. We have adventure, dark horror, steamy romance, comedy, and even a guide book you can read from your own toilet. This and much more is set up for you to discover as you kick off your summer reading. These are books worth reading and authors worth following.

Today, I want to take some time to introduce you to our featured authors before we share their interviews, teasers from their work, and blog posts about what they created, how they think about zombies, and the process of creating material for this genre.

Check out the master schedule for the entire tour to keep up with all the great posts. Check out the story that authors from the tour are writing together “Take Care” for your enjoyment for free. Join the event page on Facebook, if you haven’t already. Pick up the books from the links below as we share about each author. Join us each day in June for the 2018 Summer of Zombie Blog Tour.

Follow the hashtag #SummerZombie to find posts in the wild.

I hope you enjoy each of these authors and their work as much as I do.

Thomas M Malafarina

Thomas M Malafarina returns to the Summer of Zombie tour with the third book in his Dead Kill trilogy, Dead Kill 3: Ridge of War. I enjoyed the first two books, so I was already sold on the series, but the third book surprised me in a good way. The evolution of the zombies and other oddities in Malafarina’s universe offer something wild, different, and unpredictable for zombie fans and readers with the turn of every page in each of the books. Check out Dead Kill 3 or begin with the first book in the series now.

Samie Sands

Samie Sands should be well known to zombie fans. If you don’t know her work, you should get to know it. We are featuring the fourth book in her AM 13 Outbreak series, Not Dead Yet. If you pick up the first book, this series will hold your interest straight through the latest release.  This series delivers on the kinds of stories and characters zombie fans are looking for. I’m a fan of her short story work as well. You can also check out some great romance work from her, too. Pick of the latest book from the Am 13 Outbreak series or begin with book one.

Kenny Van Dyke Jr.

Kenny Van Dyke Jr. is an active member of the online zombie fan community. Many readers and fans who interact in those circles probably know him from fun questions of the day and more. He has used his unique perspective and love for the genre to create a great guide book for the zombie apocalypse which can be read in short “sittings” for interesting bathroom reading for zombie fans or anyone preparing for the coming apocalypse. We are happy to feature Holy Crap! It’s Zombies! The tips from this book are clear, concise, and easy to absorb. The style of writing draws you in and keeps you reading long after you planned to get up and get on with your day. Check it out now!

Daniel Humphreys

Daniel Humphreys brings us the second book in his Z-Day series with A Place Called Hope. The first book in that series A Place Outside the Wild hooked me in and the second in the series kept me on board for more. Now is a great time to jump on that series. His story picks up later in the apocalypse when people are winning and rebuilding, but the threat isn’t over because it is beginning to change. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with where this series is going.

Jessica Gomez

Jessica Gomez is on the third installment of her Flash series with Evolved. She has created a unique world with an interesting cast of characters put through the very toughest tests of their humanity. Her zombies are scary and the threats are real from the living and the dead. Check out Evolved now or begin the series with book one today.

Javan Bonds

Javan Bonds is a fascinating person with an interesting story. He has overcome a lot to be an author and he shines in that role. He brings his experiences and perspective to the page at a level few other others manage to achieve. We are featuring his latest work with Book 5 in the Still Alive series: Zombie River Run. He’s an author worth getting to know both as a person and through his writing. Start the Still Alive series now.

R. J. Spears

We are featuring the fifth book in the Books of the Dead series by R. J. Spears: The Living and the Dead. In addition to starting that series, you will also want to check out his Forget the Zombies series. Both series do interesting things with character perspective and the expansion of the apocalypse over the course of the series. Spears is a prolific writing with a lot of work to check out. Start reading his books today.

Baileigh Higgins

Baileigh Higgins is an author from South Africa who brings the culture and geography to life in her books about the dead. We are featuring Seize Another Day which is the fourth book in her Dangerous Days series. You should also check out her ongoing series with The Black Tide series and Death’s Children as well. These worlds will not let readers down and you’ll see exactly why we are so excited to have her on this tour to introduce to all of you.

Tom Clark

Many of you may recognize Tommy Clark from his work with podcasts on Project Entertainment Network. He has a wide range of skills which help him and many others with their media and storytelling projects. Those who have followed him over the past few years will have seen how seriously he takes his writing. He has sought out professional guidance from some of the best in the genre. He works on his stories with a passion and meticulous attention to detail which few authors these days employ. He is serious about the quality of the work he is putting out for readers to discover. This is why we are very excited to feature his latest zombie novella Good Boy. We are confident you will not be disappointed.

Armand Rosamilia

Armand Rosamilia is no stranger to readers and zombie fans. He has been a fixture on the tours since he founded them and has continued to offer up featured work since he passed off hosting duties to a younger, sexier, and more qualified host. That was very big of him to do. This summer we are featuring Dying Days: Family Ties, a Young Adult story from his Dying Days universe. He has been working on this story for a while and patrons on his Patreon page were able to see some early drafts of chapters. This is a great zombie story which is fit for a YA audience, but I think any zombie reader should love it. I sure did. His Dying Days universe main series completed this past year with book nine. That complete zombie series is concluded well and worthy of reading from beginning to end. If you haven’t already, also take a look at his other work including the Dirty Deeds series, The Enemy Held Near, Yard Full of Bones, and his nonfiction baseball book about the minor league team The Jumbo Shrimp entitled A View From My Seat. Pick up Dying Days: Family Ties – A Zombie YA Novella now and keep reading.

Alathia Paris Morgan

Alathia Morgan is no stranger to the zombie genre and should be no stranger to readers any longer. Her latest work MAZ: Military Against Zombies is featured on this summer’s tour. She kicked off that series with Moms Against Zombies. Both these books tell a lot about her as an author and about what she brings to the genre. Both books show her unique style on zombie stories with a different sort of heart and with tools she brings to her work from other genre influences. She also wrote Infected Waters, bringing zombies to the story of the Titanic. This book is an emotional ride as well and all of her zombie work delivers for readers. You can also check out her cozy mysteries and other work outside of the zombie genre to see how well her voice translates across different types of stories. Check out MAZ: Military Against Zombies now.

Brahm Stroker

Brahm Stroker is a hot mystery woven into a sexy enigma. If the stories are true, he was writing long before any of us were alive and his work is still in the process of being translated, so much more of his great writing is yet to come for his readers. We are featuring Rated Z: Money Shot – An Anti-Romance. The sexy scenes and the undead action never stop. Well, they sometimes pause in chapter breaks and at the end of the book, but you get what I mean. This book takes apart the zombie and the romance genres in a great way. Check out something a little different today.

M V Clark

M V Clark is new to the zombie genre and her featured novel, The Splits: Personal Histories of Scott-Lapidot Disease from the Splits Archive, is her first novel release. I’m very excited to bring new authors on the tour for veteran zombie readers to discover. I’m particularly excited about The Splits because this book has a style and energy which sets it apart from the field. It creates an apocalyptic story with a massive scope. Clark worked in journalism and public relations for almost two decades and she brings this experience to the characters and story in this book. It reads like an experienced and creative writer who knows what she is doing with the words and where she is taking the reader. Check out The Splits now and thank me later.

We look forward to a great tour with lots of interesting posts from and about these authors and their work. I enjoyed what each had to offer and was excited to invite this slate of featured authors onboard for the summer. We are in for a great tour. Enjoy!
