The plan is to reread all of Stephen King’s works in the order that they were published. Richard Chizmar of Cemetery Dance had the vision. I’m doing it because I am a writer and I want to improve my fiction. And I love Stephen King’s stories. I think there is something to be learned through this process.
You can also go back to the beginning and read Before Carrie or any of my other posts up through this one and beyond by checking out this link to the Master List of all my #StephenKingRevisited posts.
I’ve heard good things about If It Bleeds. As many Stephen King fans feel, I really love his four novella collections. I think they really represent some of his best work. It kind of shows what type of storytelling he can really do with shorter space but more than a short story.
Speaking broadly, I don’t think King gets enough credit for how good his current work is compared to his classics from the past. He’s gotten better as a writer and he was already great. That should make perfect sense. Many people focus on the big titles from the past and miss some of his moments of real greatness in the present.
I’m looking forward to tackling these novellas.
My next post in this series will be After If It Bleeds which will be linked on the Master List of all my Stephen King Revisited posts.
