Before Hearts in Atlantis #StephenKingRevisited

by Jay Wilburn

The plan is to reread all of Stephen King’s works in the order that they were published. Richard Chizmar of Cemetery Dance had the vision. I’m doing it because I am a writer and I want to improve my fiction. And I love Stephen King’s stories. I think there is something to be learned through this process.

You can also go back to the beginning and read Before Carrie or any of my other posts up through this one and beyond by checking out this link to the Master List of all my #StephenKingRevisited posts.

I am ashamed to say that I have seen the movie, but have not read the book for this one. This may be the only Stephen King book I can say that about. Even the used bookstore copy of Hearts in Atlantis I purchased in preparation for #StephenKingRevisited has Anthony Hopkins on the spine staring out at me in an accusatory fashion.

I have very little memory of the details of that movie. I remember hearing or reading that the movie covered the first portion of that book and others were going to be made except that the first movie didn’t do well so it remained the only movie from that book. I’m not sure if that is true, but it seems to track.

I’m getting conflicting information on whether this is a collection of novellas or a novel, as I originally thought. I guess I’m about to find out.

As always, I’m excited to read a Stephen King book that I haven’t gotten to before now.

My next post in this series will be After Hearts of Atlantis which will be linked on the Master List of all my Stephen King Revisited posts.
