The plan is to reread all of Stephen King’s works in the order that they were published. Richard Chizmar of Cemetery Dance had the vision. I’m doing it because I am a writer and I want to improve my fiction. And I love Stephen King’s stories. I think there is something to be learned through this process.
You can also go back to the beginning and read Before Carrie or any of my other posts up through this one and beyond by checking out this link to the Master List of all my #StephenKingRevisited posts.
It is weird to be caught up. After all these years of rereading all of Stephen King’s books in order, between all the other reading I have done, I’m about to read his most recent release. It has literally been years since I could say that.
Reading Billy Summers as the culmination of all Stephen King’s catalog I’ve taken in gives this book more weight and a higher bar of expectation than what may be fair.
What I can say is that I’ve liked far more of Stephen King’s work than I have disliked. I think that gives this novel pretty good odds.
I am a constant reader. I am a Stephen King fan to my core. Whatever this novel turns out to be, I will take it for what it is with open arms and an open heart. I will look forward to more work from the master himself.
However many more years he has or I have, I will savor them all, every moment, every word, because what else is life, if not mostly that?
My next post in this series will be After Billy Summers which will be linked on the Master List of all my Stephen King Revisited posts.
