Before A Face in the Crowd #StephenKingRevisited

The plan is to reread all of Stephen King’s works in the order that they were published. Richard Chizmar of Cemetery Dance had the vision. I’m doing it because I am a writer and I want to improve my fiction. And I love Stephen King’s stories. I think there is something to be learned through this process.

You can also go back to the beginning and read Before Carrie or any of my other posts up through this one and beyond by checking out this link to the Master List of all my #StephenKingRevisited posts.

I thought I had bought all of Stephen King’s books and would just make my way the rest of the way down the shelf before he published too many more.

But no!

As I’m reading Faithful, King has an idea for a story and even names it “Spectator”. I wondered if he’d done anything with it, so I look it up. Turns out he cowrote the short novella A Face in the Crowd with Stewart O’Nan, his cowriter from the book Faithful.

A Face in the Crowd is only available in ebook and audio formats, so I bought the ebook on the spot and added it to my reading schedule where it went chronologically in King’s publishing history. That would be here and now.

I’m curious what this duo did with a quick work of baseball fiction after reading their nonfiction effort.

My next post in this series will be After A Face in the Crowd which will be linked on the Master List of all my Stephen King Revisited posts.
